Whatever Bars

You can make these with whatever flavor you want using a different cake mix.

18 1/2 oz lemon cake mix
3/4 cup butter
1 1/4 cup chopped pecans, divided
8 oz pkg cream cheese, softened
1 cup brown sugar, packed

Mix together cake mix, butter and one cup pecans. Spread into a greased 9X13 pan. Blend cream cheese and brown sugar and spread over mixture, sprinkling with the 1/4 cup of remaining pecans. Bake at 350 until light golden, about 25-30 minutes.
Makes 2 to 3 dozen.

Going to try German Chocolate and Red Velvet and etc..........

Thank you for visiting my blog and for leaving me a comment on my giveaway post. I will definitely add your name to the drawing.

These bars sound good...and easy, which is always a good thing. I am curious, though. When you mix the cake mix and butter, are you using melted butter? Or do you use it solid and mix it together like pie crust?

Thanks for sharing,

I have made these once awhile back and I used it solid. Can't remember where this recipe came from. Had it wrote down on a piece of paper with all my other recipes. I am making a book for my nephew and his wife to be for a gift and ran across it.

I have these in the oven now. Using a Triple Chocolate Cake Mix and only 1/2 cup of pecans. Used 1/4 in each part.

When you mix the cake mix, butter and pecans (or nuts of your choice) it becomes like a thick cookie dough to put (pat) into the pan.
