1 lb butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup brown sugar packed
1 cup chopped pecans (or walnuts)
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
In a heavy saucepan, combine butter and sugars. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture boils. Without stirring, boil to hard crack stage or 290 to 310 degrees on a candy thermometer; remove from heat. Pour pecans and chocolate chips into a lightly greased 13X9 pan, pour hot butter mixture on top. Allow mixture to cool completely, break into pieces before serving.
Makes 8 servings.
