Recycle Can

 Another picture that I have been saving.  Using recycled cards or maybe even a picture from calendar or book and decorate it up with some glitter etc...  If not wanting to use glitter try the glitter ribbon that you can buy.  Dollar Tree normally has some--if you can find it there.  Could put mini tree, snowman, truck etc. depending on picture if you wanted to.

For some reason, I cannot post on peoples blogs.  I am looking at them but my posting just stopped.  I have to post differently too on my blog!!!!

 Took maybe 25-30 minutes and most of that was trying to get it stuffed full enough and even.  Might have to look for a few more for gifts,,,,,,,,will see.  

Recycling Christmas Cards

There are so many creative ways out there to reuse the cards we receive in the mail.  I will name a few that I have did and some I have just seen.

The front can always be removed and framed in a picture frame

Remove the front and if clean on the back (no letter on it) can be used for postcard.

Remove front and if clean on the back can be used for invitations if having a cookie swap party, craft night or any other type of party.

Can cut the picture out, to fit inside a Miracle Whip lid and decorate it.  I have one that my son did in grade school and its a picture of a deer and they put batting in it to look like deer standing on snow.  Use eyelet or lace around the edge.  ( I would mica snow on it to look more shiny)  Actually on the one he did they put 2 lids back to back and glued a doily in between to look like lace and put a piece of yarn also in between for a hanger. The same picture of deer in both lids.  Make sense?

My grandma would take them and cut out a picture in a circle and then punch small holes and crochet around the edge with the thread and make an ornament.

Frosty Votive Candles

Spray votive candle holders or the battery lit candles (protest the flame by wrapping or however you choose) with spray adhesive or clear spray and roll in mica snow.  Will make the candle glimmer.

Wrapping

Buy new clean paint cans to use to put your gift in or cookies/candies.

Some crafts I did for 2019 Christmas

This is the lotion that people like on their feet and also hands, especially if you work outside. Seasoning salt in other containers.

 These are painted globes.

 Snowman ornament glittered and painted inside.

This one my mom made last year for us for Christmas.  The top is a tuna can painted.  I put the little accents on it.  Inside is small blue battery operated lights.  I did 11 and gave them out before Christmas so they could be used.  Did 3 for where I work so each branch would have have.  They were very well received.

Any old quilts or clothes

If you have any old quilts that are in rough shape--- I have made ornaments out of them.  I traced around a cookie cutter, I used a mitten, stocking and heart and then used a straight running stitch along the edge with floss and made the hanger.  A blanket stitch would do on the edges too.

Could also use old clothing and stuff alittle.

When my grandparents died, we found old quilts in a trunk outside and they were half gone so I washed and made some for all us grandkids.

Cheap Wreaths

If you are in the area to get honeysuckle vine you can gather it and make your wreaths.  Fall is the time to gather it. Nothing beats free.

Magnet or Ornament

I might have posted this in the past----not sure. 

 

A bigger flat marble, paint face and we put the silver foil paper with rainbow colors glued shiny side up with Elmer glue and then attached a magnet to the back.  On others we just attached string and hung on tree and the lights will shine thru it.  Gave several fro gifts.

Goodie container

I did this up several years ago (like maybe 7 or 8) .  On the Folgers site they had these designs you could print out and put over the panels on the coffee containers. There are the snowmen, Old Time Santa, had decoration and then some cartoons ones.  I get the cans from work.  They hold a lot and I fill with goodies we make.

Ornaments from beads

It has been several years ago now that we made these ornaments from beads.  They would be pretty on a tree too but I hand ours on our curtain for the sun to hit them. (other snowflakes are cling ons from Dollar Tree)

Gingerbread People

Make a garland or make each one separate for an ornament.

CIJ Day #4

 

Using any size of round box you can paint a snowman on it and add a scrap piece of material for a scarf. Or possibly fix with a real scarf to add another gift.  I included the instructions for it but you can easily paint your own face.

Gift Basket

This would be such a cute way to give cookies, candies, bath items or any other gifts.  Soxs, gift cards, CDS.  Then could be used to hold Christmas cards, pine cones or little favors for visistors during the season.

Christmas Decoration

I purchased this a few yrs. ago and the little wooden items to make more, but haven't yet.  The top says Happy Holidays.

A new twist on the sox monkey......

Now a Sox Gingerbread.  I ran across this when looking back thru my Gooseberry Patch Christmas Books (this was in #2).

Snowman container

I ran across this picture and thought I would share.  In the past I have used coffee creamer containers also.  I do paint eyes and buttons on the ones I do.  I also love to give homemade cocoa mix in a quart jar that I have sponge painted the outside, and added a face on.
