Old Fashioned Eggnog

This is the real thing

6 eggs
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 cups milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon nutmeg, divided
1 cup whipping cream

Beat eggs, sugar and salt together in a saucepan, stir in milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring about 15 minutes or until mixture coats spoon. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, chill overnight. Just before serving, whip cream to soft peaks, whisk into egg mixture in a gentle folding motion. Serve sprinkled with remaining nutmeg. Makes 10 servings.
