Getting closer

I finally finished a fourth of 1 row and the other long row this a.m.. Now to sew it on and do the rest. I must say I have never binded a quilt before (my grandma did the denims ones that I tied). Others I have just sewed, turned and tied. The fabric I orginally got for the back is to small cuz I went bigger so will go get it this afternoon. Hope to finish this, this week-end. As I have said I am going to try to quilt this on the machine and I guess I will just go diagonally. I don't know yet.

Disregard the stain on the right side of quilt. That was this week and not sure when or how. Don't you love it when they appear!

Blocks are done

After we got home and I read alittle on the computer to catch up I sewed the last 4 blocks. Now to sew them together and then 4" blocks all on the outside. Some of the material I can't say I really like but.... hoping once all together it will look okay.

Kentucky State Prison

Sits above Lake Barkley.

The one is only half of the front.

Our ann. meal at Patti's Settlement in Kentucky

Little cheesecake with cherries on it that they brought out and sung Happy Birthday to me. They asked my name first and then said how red I was and asked everybody to sing Happy Birthday with them. I know I was red, cuz I could feel it. Afterwards they found out it was our Ann. also and wanted to sing another song and I said NO.
Bread in flower pot with strawberry and regular butter. The pork chops were 2" thick. We saved about half of each of ours and had it for supper at the hotel with chips. Ordered a sampler plate that turned out to be huge so was full fast. The pork chops they bake first and then cook over open fire.

Lake

Sun setting on Lake Barkley in Kentucky.

Next two pictures are of Kentucky Lake. One looking back at the dam in the distance. We use to love going to the dam and walking on it and along the lake but due to threats they have closed it and you can't get near it. A shame.

My first quilt project

Well, my first pieced quilt kinda. I have did quilts but they are normally just big pieces of material or like 8 to 12" blocks and tied them but, this is 4" stuff. Have one block done 11 to go and the side border and then will try quilting on the machine (I am thinking at this time) and then bind it. Will see how it goes!!!!

Fleece Blanket

This is a fleece blanket that I did for great nephew due in late fall. I know it isn't baby looking fleece but it will carry him thru some years. I narrowed hemmed it with different colored threads but it isn't the best. Threads kept breaking and it was pulling so....

Now to go start a blanket for him.

Bibs are done

Finished 6 bibs this afternoon.

Now for the blankets. One is just going to be a piece of fleece with a hem around edge so that is good. The other one I will try to attempt it.

The star one the one edge I am not happy with but it will be okay.

Baby/Kiddie material

The last few days I have been digging out pieces to make a baby quilt for my great nephew that is to arrive late this fall. Purchased 4 or 5 pieces on Thurs. but have several. Now just have to cut the 4"blocks and the strips.

Hummers---again!!!!

I love to watch the hummers. This a.m. I made 24 cups of water up. Seems more and more are coming. We have always had hummers but not this many at a time. Love it!
You think kids don't help the grocery bill neither do hummers!

We have 3 feeders up like this and I think later today we will put more up. We have several feeders.

Deer

This is a deer eating an ear of corn from the field. It came out of our woods across the road and I was taking picture from inside.

Enlarge picture and then click again to see the doe alittle better. It is across from the stop sign by the big flower. Not a GREAT picture.

My Nephew

Picture of my nephew and his bride to be. The big day is September 18th. Which will be the day that my husband and I started dating 33 yrs. ago. (77)

The pictures are their engagement poses that one of their friends put together and gave to them.

The 2 Ryans

My son Ryan (will be 26 in a couple months) is the brown headed and the blonde Ryan (24 1/2) is daughter's finacee. (together 7 1/2 yrs.. Engaged 5 months.)

This was at my nephew's bridal shower last week-end. Several men were there. He got several gifts for himself such as screwdrivers, grease gun, and a vice.

In the past my son dated an Amye for quite awhile and my daughter is Jaymee. That was a tongue twister when all 4 was together.

Hummers

This year we have about 17 hummingbirds. Normally we have 6-7 feeders up but only did 3 this year. Since about the middle of July we have gained several more birds. These pictures are taken from inside my frontroom windows. We fill these feeders daily. Had them all in seperate places but they preferred the one so moved the others out there too.

Side yard to the East

I love it when corn is planted around us. It is to the East and then across the road in front of the other patch. Then behind us is CRP and woods, west woods and directly across the road woods. Road is in front of the corn field.

Potatoes

We got our spuds out Sunday morning. This year (have did this before a few times) we planted them on top the ground and just strawed them very heavy. Lift the straw up and so easy to pick up. Had to dig very little. They grow smoother it seems this way.

What is cooking

This is the salsa mixture before 10 pounds of tomatoes are added. The last batch we did on Sunday I followed the recipe but added 1 habarnero. (sp. bad) I use the seeds with all peppers but the green peppers. Everybody seems to really like this batch. Alittle spicer but not overly.
