I have a couple of quilts that my grandma had made. When they passed away about 4 years ago I found them in a trunk outside in a shed. They had been folded for years and looked bad so I said I would take them home and wash them and see what happens. Pieces fell off and I hung them out on the line to dry and blow the excess lose pieces off. I have some big pieces in good shape and was going to frame them in 8x10and 12X14 for gifts for Christmas. Can I just use foam board and glass? I thought of stuffed heart ornaments with pieces too.
Any ideals would be appreciated, greatly. I thought if I framed them and used a nice molding and painted it old looking that it would look nice.

I think framing them would be perfect. If they are that fragile, you probably don't want to make ornaments that might get further wear and tear. Just make sure that the foamboard you use to put the quilt on is acid-free. Just about all of it is now anyway. And the most important part is to make sure you document it by putting a note on the back about what it is and any other info you know. You could write it on a postcard and tape it to the back of the frame.
