Asparagus Bundles

We made these for Easter and everybody loved them.  I got the recipe off of a Trisha Yearwood show.
Asparagus is starting to come up here good now so hope we get to make several more.

2 pounds fresh asparagus, ends trimmed
12 slices bacon
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

Divide asparagus spears into 12 bundles.  Carefully wrap 1 piece of bacon around each bundle, starting about 1/2 " from the bottom of the tips.  Secure bacon wrapped spears with a toothpick.  Lay the bundles in a low sided casserole dish.

In a medium saucepan, combine the brown sugar, butter, soy sauce, garlic salt and pepper.  Bring the mixture to a boil.  Pour the hot sugar mixture over the asparagus bundles.  Put into the oven and roast until the spears have begun to wilt and the bacon looks fully cooked.  About 25 minutes.  Remove toothpicks.

Depending on the size of spears for the time.

Few more miscellaneous

Allens birthday was March 20th.  He enjoys deer hunting, fishing, we have some sheep and then gardening.  Wish they would of had colorful veggies but...  I also said if they could get a little blonde girl on it but they weren't sure how to do it.

On Good Friday Grandpa and Teigan planted jelly beans to come up on Easter.  I don't have a picture of it but we put small individual bags on popsicle sticks for Easter Day.  Only about 12 and put them where the jelly beans were planted.

Teigan wanted milk yesterday afternoon.  She uses straws often but this was a first and she thought it was hilarious--needless to say the straw went bye bye.

Micellaneous Shots

Teigans Easter Basket(s), I love bluebirds and we put up several houses for them. Easter lilies at the farm (my great grandparents place where we have some sheep) they line the front of the yard also-have since I was little.  Teigan with her dad and other grandpa at our house for Easter.  My grandparents bowl.  Was always the potatoe salad bowl and grandma did her top like that and it was also the popcorn bowl.

Red and Green
